Chelsea Hit by Transfer Embargo
FIFA, the governing body of world football, have rocked Chelsea Football Club by slapping a transfer embargo on the club which will prevent the West Londeners from registering any players until January 2011.
Chelsea have been punished for allegedly tapping up former FC Lens youngster Gael Kakuta and offering the player inducements to sign when he was only 15 years old. Kakuta himself has been handed a four month playing ban and a substantial fine. Ironically the player is currently sidelined with an injury that will prevent him from playing for six months. The club have already announced that they will launch the “Strongest Appeal Possible”in a bid to at least reduce the ban. However, at present, Chelsea’s ageing squad will be forced to cope without any new players for the next two transfer windows.
